Analyst makes Spot Solana and XRP ETF prediction for 2025

The 2024 U.S. presidential election sparked renewed optimism in the cryptocurrency market, with Donald Trump’s victory as the 47th president fueling significant momentum.

Shortly after the election results were announced, Bitcoin [BTC] surged past the $100k-mark for the first time. This marked a historic milestone for the leading cryptocurrency.

Not surprisingly, this rally was mirrored in the Bitcoin ETF sector. December 2024 alone saw ETFs acquiring an impressive 51,500 BTC—Nearly quadrupling the 13,850 BTC mined during the same period.

Amid this market frenzy, ETF Store President Nate Geraci has shared his top predictions for the evolving crypto ETF ecosystem. The exec has placed a spotlight on Ripple [XRP] and Solana [SOL].

Geraci predicted that Spot XRP and Solana ETF products will secure regulatory approval this year. For those unaware, momentum already gathered steam back in June 2024 when VanEck introduced the first Solana ETF filing in the U.S. This paved the way for similar applications from Grayscale, Canary Capital, and 21Shares.

Notably, the Solana ETF proposals remain under review by the SEC. Meanwhile, Canary Capital’s XRP ETF filing in October 2024 marked a pivotal moment. It reshaped the outlook for crypto ETFs, encouraging other asset managers to follow suit.

While the SEC is yet to deliver a definitive verdict, optimism for approval is growing.

Geraci also highlighted that Spot Bitcoin ETFs could surpass physical gold ETFs in assets under management, with the first year of Bitcoin ETFs achieving remarkable milestones – A sign of the growing maturity of this market.

As expected, Bitcoin ETF products have achieved a historic milestone, surpassing $150 billion in AUM—A record that took gold ETFs two decades to reach.

Beyond this success, Geraci anticipates groundbreaking developments in 2025, including SEC approval for Solana and XRP ETFs, alongside Ethereum staking ETF products.

Finally, the exec also predicts that Vanguard may pivot its positiom to support crypto ETFs, while also foreseeing approvals for filings from Grayscale and Bitwise.

If SOL and XRP ETFs gain approval, their prices could register significant shifts. This would mirror the impact Bitcoin ETFs have had on BTC’s price trajectory.

However, current market trends seem to be flashing mixed signals. While BTC and ETH have faced bearish pressure following ETF outflows, Solana’s bearish outlook can be supported by an RSI below the neutral level.

On the contrary, XRP, with an RSI above the neutral threshold, pointed to an imminent bullish phase – Hinting at a potential divergence in performance for these altcoins.

Hence, seeing the optimism surrounding the XRP ETF, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse shared his thoughts on X. He stated,

Here, it is worth noting that the anticipated shift in the U.S. SEC leadership is being viewed as a key factor that could accelerate the approval of crypto ETFs.

With President Trump nominating Paul Atkins as the next SEC Chair, many expect a departure from the stringent crypto policies seen under Gary Gensler’s tenure.

Besides Geraci, other industry experts are also optimistic that this regulatory transition will pave the way for significant developments in 2025. Particularly the approval and launch of Solana and XRP ETF products.
