Нестандартный взгляд на активность разработчиков: подход платформы Santiment

За любой криптовалютой, как блокчейн-проектом, всегда стоит команда разработчиков, работу которой важно оценивать. Но как? Аналитическая площадка Santiment несколько лет назад предложила для этого интересную методику.

Что такое активность разработчиков

У каждой криптовалюты, которая уже себя зарекомендовала, есть свое сообщество. Эти сообщества представлены инвесторами, вкладывающими деньги в проект; энтузиастами, которые просто проявляют интерес к конкретной криптовалюте; а также разработчиками, которые вносят изменения в функционирование цифровых активов. Тем не менее, не все разработчики вносят реальный вклад в развитие криптовалюты. Чтобы проанализировать их деятельность, чаще всего прибегают к оценке активности на портале GitHub. Однако аналитическая платформа Santiment еще в 2018 году посчитала такой подход некорректным, и стала использовать «события» для оценки активности разработчиков. Чем же отличаются эти два определения?

События vs коммиты

Чаще всего для оценки активности аналитические платформы используют «коммиты» — отдельные, даже незначительные изменения, вносимые в протоколы. Например, по этому показателю ранжируются криптовалютные экосистемы на портале Cryptometheus. «Событие» — это более широкое понятие, которое включает в себя не только коммиты, но и любую активность, производимую на GitHub. К ним могут относиться не только небольшие технические нововведения, но и комментарии по какой-либо существующей проблеме и даже момент возникновения форка. Иными словами, коммиты касаются исключительно технической составляющей, а события – общей активности.

Если мы говорим о разработчиках, верным кажется использование первого понятия. С чем же не согласны в Santiment?

Проблема форков

Дело в том, что криптоиндустрия наводнена форками — проектами, которые взяли за основу какую-то материнскую криптовалюту, и уже на ее базе ведут свои разработки. Форк возникает в результате внесения технических изменений на уровне протокола. Поэтому, если использовать коммиты, то получится неверное отражение реальности. Это объясняется тем, что каждый новый проект будет наследовать все, даже незначительные изменения в файлах базовой криптовалюты в разные периоды времени, и за счет этого будет создаваться видимость активности разработчиков, которой в реальности нет.

Подобная аргументация со стороны аналитиков Santiment выглядит вполне логичной. Тем не менее, все это не делает «события» исключительно верным выбором. Те же комментарии по проблемам едва ли можно отнести к активности разработчиков. Очевидно, в Santiment это тоже понимали, поскольку они провели разграничение между активностью на GitHub и активностью разработчиков. То есть, компания использовала терминологию GitHub, но с некоторыми уточнениями. В чем же отличие?

Разная активность

Активность на GitHub включает любые события, происходящие с криптовалютой. А вот активность разработчиков концентрируется исключительно на том, что связано с развитием проекта. Например, она не включает такие события, как:

комментарии по проблемам;

создание и закрытие проблем;

создание форков;

отслеживание людьми проблем;

загрузка релизов;

просмотр репозитория;

события, связанные с управлением проекта;

другие изменения, не направленные на изменение функционирования криптовалюты.

На основании этих двух определений Santiment проводит разграничение между разработчиками и просто участниками на GitHub. Первые непосредственно вносят вклад в технические изменения в процессе конкретных событий. Вторые проявляют активность по любым событиям.

Все эти хитросплетения и технические тонкости могут показаться чрезмерно сложными и требующими глубокого понимания вопроса. Чтобы сделать результат аналитики более дружелюбным к пользователям, Santiment не только разработал свою методику по оценке деятельности разработчиков, но и запустил специальный дашборд — наглядную бесплатную интерактивную панель, которой может воспользоваться любой желающий.

Вывод

Подход Santiment по оценке активности разработчиков базируется на учете событий, а не коммитов. Основным объяснением своей методики платформа называет существование большого количества форков на крипторынке. При оценке активности разработчиков Santiment учитывает не все события, а только реально связанные с развитием проекта.
